John Dierdorf studied architecture at Ball State and is retired from a 45 year career as an Architect. He painted off and on after college. Working in acrylics the last 15 years, he has been more focused as he developed his loose and spontaneous brushstrokes, bold colors, and impressionistic painting style. His subject matter is primarily florals, gardens, landscapes, and occasionally buildings. John's upcoming Artist Showcase at the Meyer Najem Second Floor Gallery takes place in July and August 2026, with a reception as part of the Fishers Arts Council Second Friday Gallery Hop on August 14 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

My background in accessibility, my experience as a mother, and my training as a yoga teacher are perspectives that shape how I create art today. The physicality of handbuilding is a form of moving meditation for me. Through this way of working, I connect to a love that connects everything in the universe. I understand why, throughout history, humans have sensed that handmade objects carry traces of love and magic with them. I hope to create small moments of joy and connection through my pieces. A carefully made and beautiful dish can remind someone that they are worthy and loved while they are eating dinner alone. A handcrafted vase full of wildflowers may remind someone of their connection to their community and the natural world. Or maybe it just makes them smile and exhale because it's pretty - that would be enough for me. As a lifelong artist and Fishers resident, I am deeply committed to supporting the arts in our local Fishers community. My ceramic practice spans more than thirty-five years, from classes at the Indianapolis Art League to my study at the Kansas City Art Institute and my current studio and teaching practice. I post new pieces and upcoming shows on Instagram, so please follow me there. You can also find my work on Etsy. Message me before you buy there if you're local, and we will make a different arrangement (I'll always cut the price a bit if I can avoid the shipping cost). Thank you for supporting local art!

Barbara Howrey is a Fishers, Indiana watercolorist and fluid artist who began painting with watercolor in 1993 and fell in love with the movement and surprise of fluid art in 2021. Her work is rooted in color, flow, and creative experimentation—often balancing intuition with playful structure. In addition to abstract fluid paintings, Barbara repurposes leftover acrylic paint from her pouring process to create one-of-a-kind jewelry, bookmarks, and small art pieces. This allows her to reduce waste while offering art in a variety of sizes and price points. Barbara is also a teacher and guide for creative self-care. She leads fluid art and art journaling experiences throughout the Indianapolis area and is the creator of A Garden for the Soul Art Journal. She hosts the podcast Art Journaling for Calm & Self-Care and facilitates The Joy of Journaling Circle, an online community where members use simple prompts and creative practice to reconnect with themselves. Barbara’s goal is to make creativity feel approachable—inviting people to explore color, calm, and self-expression one page (or pour) at a time.

I am a contemporary figurative artist whose paintings are stylist with minimalist backgrounds that highlights the unique aspects of the figures and allow room for the viewer to add to the story. I am motivated by the posture, hair texture and expressions human exhibit. I want the viewer to connect with my artwork in ways that make them ponder, smile and want to live with it.

Primarily a painter using gouache and watercolor, Laura paints using layering of transparent colors and then adding back in with more opaque touches. Occasionally she uses watercolor pencils and watercolor pens to add in fine line work details. Most of her artwork is either nature based or connected to family members. Laura seeks to capture small, calming moments–whether it is in the light interacting on the surface of water, disturbed by the flick of a fish tail or a child petting a sunning cat on a window seat.

After designing our home interior, I set out to create a few pieces of art for the dining room and family room walls. After creating those, it left me still inspired and I needed an outlet. So, I converted a room into my own perfect getaway and my journey into fluid art began. I started following several artists and exploring many different painting options and settled on fluid art. I love commission art and am inspired to take that on based on your personal requirements. Contact me if you would like to schedule a commission consultation. I find creating art so centering and appreciate your support and getting to know me.

The intention of my art is to trigger the viewer’s imagination, free associations and memories. I hope each viewer, due to their personal experiences, gathers something unique from my creations. I began my acrylic exploration in 2024 at the age of 78. Yes – it can be achieved! I have sold pieces locally and have 8 pieces of my artwork in a new commercial building in Boston, MA. I would love to share my work with you.

I’m an oil painter from Virginia Beach, now based in Westfield, Indiana. My background in crisis intervention shapes the way I understand people and emotion, which carries into my figurative, narrative paintings. I tell quiet, human stories—moments that feel deeply lived.

In my oil/cold wax abstract paintings of nature, I prioritize light and color over precise detail-utilizing bold color and unexpected palettes to convey my emotions. This would provide opportunities to engage and encourage viewers to interpret the work based on their feelings and experiences rather than specific narrative.

Welcome Home Faery
Member since 2025
My Faery houses are inspired from a lifelong love of nature. I work with natural materials and handcrafted details to create dwellings that feel alive with magic. My houses invite people to pause, to dream, and to reconnect with their inner child. Whether displayed as home décor or placed in a garden corner, each piece is meant to spark curiosity, reminding us that a little bit of Faery magic still lives in the world if we take the time to look for it.
