The Fishers Arts Council will host its 5th Annual Art in the Park on Saturday, September 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Forty-five local artists, double the number that participated in last year’s show, will display and sell their art on the lawn in front of Fishers Town Hall.

Held in conjunction with Fishers Chamber of Commerce’s Farmers Market, the event offers a fun-filled day for families and art enthusiasts alike. A Children’s Art Area will feature hands-on art projects for budding young artists while local performers will provide live entertainment throughout the event.

The entire event is FREE thanks to corporate sponsors including Dreyer & Reinbold, Barnes & Thornburg, Gracie Communications, Ji-Eun Lee Music Academy and Jonathan Spafford, Merrill Lynch.

In addition to the fresh food available at the Farmers Market, light snacks and beverages will be available for sale from McAlisters Deli, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Zeks BBQ and Palmetto Poppers throughout the event.

Fishers Chamber of Commerce’s 3rd Annual “Flavor of Fishers’’ is an outdoor cultural event that attracts more than 25,000 central Indiana residents. All come to enjoy a sampling of the best local food, beverage and entertainment. Now they can peruse the works of local artists with “A Taste of Art” from Noon to 8 p.m.

Local artists of all mediums are encouraged to rent booth space at “A Taste of Art” for $100. Fishers Arts Council is offering a special deal for artists who buy booth space at “A Taste of Art” on July 31st and at the 5th annual “Art in the Park” on Saturday, September 18th from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. for $150. The first two auditions for potential new cast members will be Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 10:00am and 2:00pm at the Fishers Public Library, 5 Municipal Way in Fishers, IN. There will be a third audition Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Fishers Public Library.

Everyone interested in performing at the Fishers Renaissance Faire is welcome to audition — no experience required. However, performers under the age of 16 must be accompanied at all times during the Faire by a parent or legal guardian. Parents and legal guardians will be considered cast members and must follow the rules for the cast as laid out by the Cast Director.

The 6th Annual Fishers Renaissance Faire will be Saturday, October 2 and Sunday, October 3, 2010 on the grounds of historic Conner Prairie, 13400 Allisonville Road, Fishers (IN), rain or shine.

“2010 marks the 6-year anniversary for Fishers Renaissance Faire.” Cast Director Andrea Fivush says. “For the past five years, the Fishers Renaissance Faire has brought chivalry, romance and the spirit of the “Golden Age” of Renaissance Europe alive for residents and visitors to Fishers. This year’s theme is “The Year of Legends”. We will be transforming the quaint village of Billericay, England into a magical place where patrons feel as if they are stepping into the pages of a living history book, complete with colorful English Legends such as Queen Elizabeth, Robin Hood, and King Arthur. Children and adults will be on the edge of their seats as the battle between the legendary forces of good and evil battle it out for the throne of England!”

Persons interested in performing at the 2010 Fishers Renaissance Faire should plan to audition on either February 6 or 21. Anyone not able to attend an audition should contact the cast director to make other arrangements.
