Art: Photography
It all started with a Christmas present. A shiny new camera from husband to wife. A Digital SLR, to be exact. That’s all it took for Fishers resident Katherine Scheele to become hooked on photography.
“I’ve had a passion for the arts since I was a little girl,” said Katherine. “I am a music lover and an art collector and have always had a passion for photography. Once I had my three children my love of photography became a personal quest to become proficient with a camera.”
Passion Becomes Profession
Several years and hundreds of experimental shoots later, Katherine Scheele Photography was born. A Purdue graduate with a bachelor’s degree in advertising, Katherine’s eye for detail is evident in her work. Mostly self-taught, she says she owes much of her knowledge to other amazing photographers who have been friends and mentors along the way.
“I pride myself on my creative energy and ability to see beauty in unlikely spaces,” says Katherine. “I strive to create images that will be classic and timeless while maintaining a modern feel. I LOVE color in all of it’s forms but am equally passionate about the age old feel of black and white.”
Family Life Stirs Muse
A self-proclaimed “mom, wife, green tea drinking, late night photoshop junkie, PB & J sandwich lover, secretly wishing to be a Las Vegas show girl, flip flop, t-shirt and jeans kind of gal” Katherine enjoys mixing her love of family life and photography.
“Children as they are and all the magic that it entails is what gives me great joy in what I do! exclaimed Katherine. “I love everything about art that is a dreamy fairy tale, thought provoking…oh I could go on but would rather that my photos tell you the story. My sole purpose is for my images to say, “WOW”. Life will be different tomorrow, so make sure and remember today.”
Katherine Scheele’s work can be spotted at Starbucks on Commercial Drive in Fishers and also at Gallery 116 in Downtown Fishers. For more information: visit her website at www.AnotherReasonToSmile.com.
